Grid Kit

A tiny CSS grid layout library we use on every marketing site.

Grid Kit is a few hundred bytes of CSS that gives us a consistent twelve-column grid, a handful of spacing tokens and responsive helpers that match our design system.

We extracted it after copying the same layout code into a fifth project. It has no JavaScript, no build step and no opinions about your components.

#What we learned

The smaller we made the API, the more teams actually used it. Every option we removed made adoption easier.

Container queries let us drop most of the breakpoint helpers we had originally planned.

More from the lab

  • Experiment

    Latency Lens

A browser extension that overlays Core Web Vitals on any page.

  • Concept

    Clinic Queue

A calmer waiting-room display for small clinics, prototyped in a week.

Have an idea? Let's build it.
